Sharla Bengston from Wood Lake Area received a grant from Southwest Minnesota Arts Council to purchase a wide-angle camera lens and a small lens. Last year she was an emerging artist in Granite Falls at the Arts Council Gallery with her photography of barns. She now has photos of barns, rural churches, and the statues at the Irish Baseball Field outside of Vesta, Minn. At her booth at last week’s Santa’s Sleigh Fundraiser hosted by the Yellow Medicine County Family Service Center as a fundraiser for area youth in need, Bengtson also had microwavable bowl holders made by her daughter and granddaughter.
