Split Rail Saddle Club hosts show
The Split Rail Saddle Club held their July Fun Show at Lee-Mar Ranch and Equine Center last Friday evening. The event included competitions in a number of categories including Key Race, Egg and Spoon, Poles, Pennant, Jump Figure Eight, Barrels, Ball Drop, and more. Competitions are divided into age divisions from Pee-Wee to Senior Plus. The category winners are awarded ribbons and prizes.

Piano students of Rhoda Nelson participate in Spring performance
Students of Rhoda Nelson of rural Clarkfield were presented in a Spring recital on June 2, 2022 at New Life Church in Clarkfield. The recital represented a culmination of work done throughout the school year. Awards and certificates were presented for the following events:

Mankato musician to provide entertainment at July Makers Market
Musician Crista Bohlman, from Mankato, will be the next artist providing live music at the next Makers Market on the Riverwalk in Granite Falls on Thursday, July 7th, 2022. Bohlman has been creating and performing music since she was just three years old, when she began playing the violin at New Ulm’s Schell Brewery with Paula Marti.

Western Fest PRCA Rodeo improves grounds ahead of annual June event
The Western Fest PRCA Stampede Rodeo returns to Granite Falls Thursday, June 23rd through Saturday, June 25th. The PRCA Rodeo is in its 33rd year, but Granite Falls had High School Rodeo going for 32 years before the Professional Rodeo, meaning Lee Mar Ranch has been home to rodeo for 65 years.

Yellow Medicine County Museum hosts 150th anniversary exhibit
In celebration of Yellow Medicine County’s 150th anniversary, the Yellow Medicine County Museum in Granite Falls is featuring a special exhibit with a focus on the townships. Yellow Medicine County was established in 1852, when the United States Government established the Yellow Medicine Agency for the Upper Sioux.

Western Fest returns June 23rd-25th
On Wednesday, June 23rd, the annual Western Fest celebration begins in Granite Falls. All of Wednesday’s events take place in the downtown area, and include the annual Cowboy Crazy Days celebration, as well as Queen Candidates and Royalty appearances. A number of activities are taking place for children including the Kiddie Carnival in Rice Park, Barrel Train Rides by Bisbee Plumbing and Heating, a Pedal Pull, Kiddie Parade, and the Legion is hosting a kid’s night complete with bingo, fish pond and cake walk. There’s also a Hula Hoop Contest by MVTV Wireless planned on Main Street, as well as free Root Beer Floats sponsored by Rock Haven Church.
