Beyond Reason

In the cooler months, Uncle Tony is a staple around the house. Uncle Tony’s usually up at dawn, sipping coffee, enjoying the sunrise, reading the paper. Then you might not see Uncle Tony until the evening. More often than not, Uncle Tony skips happy hour and dinner altogether, emerging to read to the kids, and helping with bath time. On the weekend Uncle Tony might cozy up for a movie. But Uncle Tony is not a fan of the warmer weather. One of the first unofficial signs of summer is./ when it heats up outside and Uncle Tony goes to the basement until fall.

Fun in the Sun Kits available for young children

United Way of Southwest Minnesota They’re back!! Fun in the Sun Kits were so popular last year that United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is excited to announce they’re here again! The goal of these kits is to provide a starting point for family activities that are fun, educational and engaging throughout the summer. These kits are a gift from UWSWMN to families in our service area that have young children and are distributed through local libraries.

Bengtson’s work to appear in Friends of Minnesota Barns calendar

Sharla Bengtson, of Wood Lake, recently entered one of her photographs into a contest for Friends of Minnesota Barns. The photograph was chosen to be featured in the Barn Calendar for 2023 in the month of November. The photograph Bengtson submitted was taken in Pine County, Minnesota. Additionally, Bengtson’s granddaughter submitted a photo to the same contest and will have her photograph featured for September in the calendar. Photo submitted

Beyond Reason

Mother’s Day is the one day a year when Mother gets to put her feet up and is waited on hand and foot by her minion. Father brings her an iced coffee, just the way she likes it. The children deliver the remote control, blankets, and a snack. Uninterrupted, Mother watches an entire episode of BBC-produced British period piece on PBS. It is pure bliss.
