Lakeview Elementary hosts music program
On April 21st, the Lakeview kindergarten, first grade and second grade classes hosted a music program under the direction of Mrs. Krishana Dempcy.

Lakeview seniors enjoy full day for senior class trip
The Lakeview Senior Class took their annual senior class trip last Wednesday. The group left the school at 6:15 a.m. to travel first to play paintball at Champion Valley in Scott County, then to Top Golf in Minneapolis. After all of the day’s sports activities, the class traveled to the Mall of America for shopping, having a meal at the Cadillac Ranch in the mall before heading back to Cottonwood. Wood Lake Community Club hosts annual Easter Egg Hunt

Lakeview Elementary students celebrate Easter
The Easter Bunny dropped off a bucket of eggs in the first-grade class last week. Inside of the eggs were “babies” (peeps) that the students adopted, named, and took care of for the next few days. The students even had bunny money to pay for babysitters and made little baby beds for their adopted babies.
Power of the Purse event to support early childhood literacy programs
Power of the Purse is an event that brings together women from throughout southwest Minnesota with a commitment to our youngest learners. All money raised will be used for local initiatives that help effectively prepare young children in our area for kindergarten. Proceeds from this event support efforts such as Imagination Library, Stuff the Bus school supply distribution, Born Learning Trails, and more!
Redistricting would cause ‘22 re-election
Three Lyon County commissioners will need to run for re-election this year if proposed redistricting changes are approved. District 2 and District 3 were up for re-election in 2022, but following the 2020 census, Lake Marshall Township will move from District 2 to District 1; therefore, District 1 will be up for re-election as well.

Cooler weather returns
Much of the central, west central, and northern Minnesota saw temperatures into the upper 40s and low to mid 50s on Sunday. Portions of southern and eastern Minnesota, however, even saw some 60s! Minneapolis hit 61 degrees, while Jackson, Windom, and Austin all topped out at 63 degrees. The warm spot around the state was Albert Lea at 64 degrees!
