Preview and update event scheduled for movie filmed locally
Last November, local residents gathered at the Granite Falls American Legion to play extras in a movie scene that was filmed there. Now, an event is planned at the Montevideo Millennium Theater to preview scenes from the movie, watch an exclusive extended trailer and receive updates on the project.

In partnership with over 200 libraries and bookmobiles across the state, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is expanding the popular library park pass program, which provides access to state parks and recreation areas at no cost to library patrons.

MnDOT announces $20 million in Transportation Economic Development funding available statewide
Cities, counties, Tribes and other government entities in Minnesota are encouraged to apply for matching funds for local transportation infrastructure projects that support economic development, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today.

North Star Mutual partners with Federal Home Loan Bank to award $100,000 to the Cottonwood Area Community Foundation
North Star Mutual Insurance Company, in partnership with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), is pleased to announce that Cottonwood Area Community Foundation will receive a $75,000 grant from the Member Impact Fund, in addition to a $25,000 pledge from North Star Mutual. This matching grant program will result in a $100,000 donation to the Cottonwood Area Community Foundation. Overall, FHLB Des Moines is awarding $20 million in funding through its Member Impact Fund to support affordable housing and community development in Minnesota.
Public input sought on reducing statewide walleye limit from six to four
Changes in lake habitat, ecology and conditions coupled with technological advances in fishing gear and methods are prompting the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to seek public input on a possible reduction in the statewide walleye possession limit from six to four fish.

More rain late week
For the most part we had a nice Independence Day weekend. We did see some heat and humidity on Friday that sparked some showers and thunderstorms. However, the rest of the long weekend was generally pleasant.
