Lakeview seniors take class trip
Last week, the Lakeview Senior Class boarded a bus to leave the school at 7 a.m. for an action packed day in the Twin Cities for their class trip. The class made a quick stop for donuts from Carl’s Bakery before starting their day. Activities included paintball games, a visit to the Mall of America to see Nickelodeon Universe and visit Rainforest Cafe, and a visit to Top Golf.

Lakeview FACS class shows off skills
The Lakeview 7th grade FACS class has been working on a project making their own pillows. Last week, the last section of 7th graders finished the project and showed o the end results.

Lotus 507 Salon hosts hair trends runway event
Last Saturday evening, local models gathered at Bluenose Gopher Public House for a runway style display of the latest trends in wed - ding and prom hair, styled by Courtney and Betsy of Lotus 507 Sa - lon in Cottonwood. Directly after the show, guests were able to enjoy the first ever adult prom to be held at the venue. Talking Waters Brewing Co was also in attendance to provide samples of their latest and most popular brews. The next event to be held at Bluenose will be Friday, May 5th when last summer's popular performer Brady Wrede returns for a performance at 7 p.m.

New plaques placed at Veterans Memorial Garden
Last week, the Anspach family of Granite Falls met with Granite Falls Veterans Services Ovcer Kris Holien to take a photograph with plaques the family has been working with Holien on for the last year. The four plaques will be added to the Veterans Memorial Garden at the courthouse in memory of the family's relatives who served in the military. A note from Myrna: You can also add nuts to this to make it even better. 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 1 tsp salt 2 tsp cinnamon 2 tsp soda 1 and 1/2 cup vegetable oil 4 eggs 3 cups carrots (grated) Beat sugar and oil - add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Temperatures above average for start of weekend
We had a mixed bag of weather over the weekend around the state. At times we had sunshine, and other times we had rain and even some spotty hail embedded within some of the stronger cells. The winds also were strong as we had a Wind Advisory that went into effect on Sunday. We even had some frost early Sunday morning as temperatures fell into the low to mid 30s for overnight lows.

Yellow Medicine County 4-H program enrollment up
At Tuesday morning’s meeting of the Yellow Medicine County Board of Commissioners, Yellow Medicine County U of M 4-H Extension Educator Alicia Webb was in attendance to provide an update on the programs 2022 activities. In Yellow Medicine County, the 4-H program had 230 youth participat - ing in 2022, along with 47 volunteers who took part in the seven community/ project clubs.
