Obama knew a degree of belovedness, thanks to his wife and daughters, and Reagan's sunny disposition was well-received, but the White House hasn't seen much outright love in my lifetime, which you could argue is proper in a democ - racy, for people to be wary of great power, but it strikes me as sad, walking around Central Park on a paradise spring day, the cherry trees in full blossom, a jazz trio playing under the trees, Fris - bee players playing pickle in the middle, yoga folks strik - ing poses, softball games, a runner pushing his little daughter in a cart, dog walk - ers, so much public happi - ness, to think of the cloud of bitterness over this generous country.

Some rain lingering into the weekend
Temperatures continue to be below average for this time of the year. Parts of Minnesota once again saw some light rain and some light snow on Sunday as a weak surface low pushed across the region.

Local children’s book author visits Lakeview
Clarkfield's Tom Lis - tul, a children's book author, recently released a new book titled "The Adventures of Shadow - man". This is the second book he's published, and it joins his debut chil - dren's book titled "Mon - key Made Dream". Last week, Listul visited Mrs. Isaacs class at the Lakev - iew School. He read his two books, "Monkey Made Dream" and "The Adventures of Shadow - man" to the students, sang his inspiration for the books, and promoted not only reading, but music and movement as well.
YMC Restorative Justice expands staff with hiring of new Transition Circle facilitator
At last Tuesday's meeting of the Yellow Medicine County Board of Commissioners, Yel - low Medicine County Restorative Justice Coor - dinator Sharon Hendrichs presented a report on the Restorative Justice De - partment's previous year. Hendrichs noted that the program includes Cir - cle Sentencing, Family & Community Circle, Cir - cle of Hope, Shift Circle, Transition Circle, and Family Safety Planning Meeting/Parallel Protec - tion Process.


MnDOT conducting aerial photography work in Southwest Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Transportation will conduct aerial mapping of several locations in southwest Minnesota this spring. The mapping will create a record of existing infrastructure and landscape along, and adjacent to, MnDOT right of way for transportation planning and highway design. This work will be conducted after the snow has melted and before trees leaf out.

Rain and snow possible through Saturday
One week ago, we were enjoying temperatures in the 60s and 70s across much of the state. Parts of Minnesota were even in the 80s and lower 90s across the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.

Suspect in last week’s police standoff charged
