MPCA reviews proposal to develop new 4,800head swine feedlot in Yellow Medicine County
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) today released its environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) for a new swine feedlot in Yellow Medicine County. Luke and Melissa Stevens plan to house 4,800 heads of grow-finish or wean-tofinish swine near the town of Hazel Run, on land currently used for row-crop agriculture and surrounded by small residential farms.

County board tables talks on CUP application for gravel pit
The Lyon County Board of Commissioners on April 21 decided to pump the brakes on the approval of a Conditional Use Permit for Action Rocks, LLC to process sand and gravel in an area northwest of Russell near Coon Creek.
Reitmaier joins staff at Yellow Medicine SWCD
Kyle Reitmaier joins the Yellow Medicine County Soil and Water Conservation District as a new conservation technician. Reitmaier grew up on a farm in Rockford, Illinois, and raised horses. After high school, he enlisted in the Marines and spent four years as a Combat Engineer working in construction and demolitions with foreign militaries.
