Light snow possible on Sunday
Spring came in quietly on Monday after we enjoyed some sunshine and highs generally in the lower 30s across much of the area. Spring arrived officially at 4:24 p.m. our time on Monday with the spring equinox. This is when there is equal daylight and nighttime. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is our spring, and in the Southern Hemisphere it is the start of their fall.
Customers encouraged to monitor natural gas meter and furnace vent
With the snow fall totals inching toward winter season records across Great Plains Natural Gas’ service territories, the company is encouraging customers to inspect their natural gas meter and furnace vent areas to make sure there is not a buildup of snow and ice. Customers are encouraged to clear the snow and ice away from the meter set and the furnace vent area.

Bengtson to exhibit photography at Granite Arts Council
Sharla Bengtson is a local photographer from the Granite Falls area. She’s also known locally as the “Lefse Queen” as well as dressing up as clowns with her husband, Doug, for summer parades. Bengtson has an upcoming photography exhibit that will be on display at the KK Berge building from March 29th – April 29th.
Countryside Public Health overviews 2022 services and statistics
Countryside Public Health Director Liz Auch was in attendance at Tuesday mornings meeting of the Yellow Medicine County Board of Commissioners to give a yearin- review report for 2022. Auch explained that the mission of Countryside Public Health is facilitating a safe and healthy future for the residents. Countryside Public Health serves residents of Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift and Yellow Medicine counties.
