Fenske is a Semi-Finalist for the McDonald Award
The Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association recently announced that Lakeview Varsity basket - ball player Nathan Fenske is a semi-finalist for the McDonald Award. Forty student-athletes were se - lected for 2023.

LaVoy participates in All-State Choir
Congratulations to Grace LaVoy for being invited to participate as a Soprano in the 2022 Minnesota All State Choir. This is among the highest honors a high school musician can be awarded in our state. Fewer than one in five singers who audition are selected for participation.


“Eye Can’t Do This” premieres at Pioneer PBS
The short, immersive film experience, "Eye Can't Do This" is the brainchild of Dana Conroy, of the Granite Falls area, who is a video artist that also works at Pi - oneer PBS on the Postcards series. Conroy's film was inspired by her own real life events with a Lasik eye sur - gery gone wrong a couple of years ago.

United Way of SW Minnesota announces Kindness Investment Program Grant
Program (KIP) grant intended to offer small, one-time funding to support a small-scale community-level project, program, or initiative that aligns with the UWSWMN Community Impact Priorities within our service area. The KIP grant is part of the Community Impact funding process awarded through the United Way of Southwest Minnesota. The grants are available for amounts up to $1000 and are open to Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, a public school, a unit of government, OR groups that have a fiscal sponsorship agreement with an organization that operates as a 501(c)(3) organization, a public school, or a unit of government.

Wind chills expected to be -30 to -40 late week
Chief Meteorologist Kool-TV This week started ou on an active note as a clipper type system brought some snow Sunday night into Monday across parts of Minnesota. Not a lot of snow was associated with it, but it did cause some slick roads at times.


Students take part in test of skills in Shakespearean-inspired insults
Students competed in the annual Shakespearean Slam competition in Mrs. Fischer’s 9th grade Language Arts class. Students have been learning about tone and nonverbal communication in preparation for their upcoming “Romeo & Juliet” unit. This contest puts the skills students have practiced in class to the test as they perform their best Shakesperean-inspired insults. Winners of the contest were (pictured): (7th Hour Class) Third Place - Kaiden Pringle, Champion - Garrett Schafer, Runner Up - Landyn Listul (8th Hour Class) Runner Up - Cody Helmke, Champion - Jovie Benson, Third Place - Selby Anderson.
