Minnesota National Farmers re-elects officers
All officers were re-elected at the annual organizational meeting of National Farmers Organization of Minnesota recently at the New Munich Marketing Center. Joe Neaton of Watertown was re-elected State President.
Plum Creek Library system offers Wrapped in Reading Author Tour
The libraries of the Plum Creek Library System will be ouering “Wrapped in Reading Author Tour”, a series of four virtual programs throughout February. The program will feature wellknown regional authors writers including Jeanne Cooney, Lorna Landvik, Chad Lewis, and Brian Freeman.
55+ driver discount program offered
The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering 55+ Driver Discount Courses on the following days: -February 16th: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Granite Falls Senior Center. Course #52104 -February 22nd: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Montevideo Community Center. Course #52059.

The man behind the donation
Veteran originally from Clarkfield left significant donation to Veterans Home project Many in the local area have heard that a multi-million dollar donation was bequeathed to the Montevideo Veterans Home project, resulting in the home being able to include the addition of a large, state of the art community gathering space. The person responsible for the donation is Steve Williams who grew up in Clarkfield, and himself was a Veteran.
7th grade science students experiencing ranching
7th grade science students have spent the last week experiencing the role of a rancher on a “Reebop” farm. For this project, students had to apply their knowledge of genetics to create a herd of Reebops (a fictional animal) which have desirable traits.
North Star Mutual Insurance Company invests in United Way
North Star Mutual Insurance Company recently held its workplace campaign to benefit United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). Employees contributed $34,861.77 through payroll pledges and special event donations. North Star Mutual Insurance Company made an additional contribution of $36,203.50 for a total campaign of $71,065.27.

Hundreds of area educators gather for annual M.E.L.T. Conference
For more than 20 years, the nine districts making up the Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED), have benefitted from a conference that takes place annually that provides educational and networking opportunities. Last week, educators from those districts gathered at the Lac qui Parle Valley High School once again for the annual MELT (MRVED Educators Learning Together) Conference during the Monday holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
