Autumn Experience Series: All things Halloween
Communities throughout the local area have been working for the past months to plan a variety of events for families and adults to enjoy for the Halloween Season. The newspaper has compiled a list of all events to make planning for the spooky season holiday even easier.

1862 Battle of Wood Lake Commemorated
What remains of a detonated cannonball? And how is forensic archeology vital to understanding how battles evolved? What were the main events of 1862 as the Confederacy sought independence? How has Minnesota’s tragedy entered popular culture? These were some of the questions addressed at the Wood Lake Bat- tlefield Preservation As sociation’s (WLBPA) annual symposium on Saturday, September 24, held at the Rock Valle Church in eastern Yellow Medicine County. The symposium featured three presenters.

Prairie Five Meals receives Community Impact Grant
The Prairie Five Meals program of Prairie Five Community Action Council, Inc. has been awarded a community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWS- WMN) of $8,000. These funds will help ouset the cost of providing meals to the older adult population thereby promoting healthy and independent living through improved nutrition and reduced so- cial isolation. This work aligns with UWSWMN’s hunger priority area.
