Author of “How to Talk Minnesotan” passes

Jessica Stölen-Jacobson Editor js to len-jacobson@cherryroad.com On September 4th, well-known Cottonwood resident Howard Mohr passed away with his family by his side at Prairie Home Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood at the age of 83. Mohr was most known for his work in writing and performing, having spent several years on the radio program A Prairie Home Companion, and authoring a number of books including the popular “How to Talk Minnesotan”.

Ocon joins ECHO Charter Staff

Among the new staff at ECHO Charter School this fall is Rechard Ocon, the new high school Math teacher. Ocon hails from the Philippines where he graduated the Surigao del Norte National High School and went on to obtain a degree in Mathematics from the Surigao State College of Technology.

The U.S. and the Holocaust documentary advanced screening to be held at Fagen Fighters WWII Museum

Jessica Stölen-Jacobson On September 8th, the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum will host an advanced screening of a new documentary by long-time filmmaker, director and producer for PBS, Ken Burns, with Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein. The event is in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.

September is Emergency Preparedness month. While many of the emergencies in our area are likely to be weather related, there are countless possible disasters that could happen at any time. Whatever the disaster, it is important that your family has an emergency plan for all its members. Child Care Economic Development Grants Now Open for Applications

Minnesota Department of Economic Development Today, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) launched the latest round of Child Care Economic Development Grants. These grants authorize $4.85 million over two fiscal years for grants to community partners to increase quality child care providers to support economic development across Minnesota.
