Lecy joins staff at ECHO Charter School
Kyle Lecy of Echo is a new addition to the teaching staff at ECHO Charter School for the upcoming school year. Lecy will be taking the reins in the high school social studies/history department, teaching History, 7/8th grade Social Studies, Geography, US and World History and Economics and Civics.

Jacobson named first runner-up in Miss Junior Rodeo Minnesota pageant
Jessica Stölen-Jacobson Editor js tolen-j a cobson@cherryroad.com Throughout last week, Emma Jacobson, of Hanley Falls, participated in the Miss Junior Rodeo Minnesota pageant that took place alongside the activities happening with the PRCA Rodeo in Marshall during the Lyon County Fair. The pageant is an affiliate of Miss Rodeo America, Inc., and the appearance in Marshall was the first time in its history that it has been held there.

Board approves spending for Garvin Park horse trails
Per Peterson Tracy Area Headlight Herald In an effort to move forward with cleaning up horse trails at Garvin Park after storms earlier this year, the Lyon County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 2 unanimously approved hiring a work crew form the Minnesota Conservation Corps.

Memory Care Corner:
Montevideo Area Memory Loss Network (MAMLN) For those who have been following my Caring Bridge site (Lori J Petersen), you are aware that after having two clear PET scans, I did have a spot show up on the most recent PET scan taken on July 1. A biopsy on that spot, did show it to be cancerous, so I am once again fighting a battle of the unknown.

Showers and thunderstorms to push through the area
What a weekend we had for all the fun activities around the region this past weekend! We had lots of sunshine, low humidity, and pleasant temperatures across the Gopher State! The clouds waited to roll back into the state until Monday. For most of us, we couldn’t have ordered better weather for a weekend! We also had some fog roll in late Sunday into early Monday across Minnesota.

Stuff the Bus school supply drive complete
United Way of Southwest Minnesota The 2022 United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive distribution day has been completed. Over 56,000 school supplies were collected and distributed to 3,000 K-12 students at 22 local schools within our service area.
