Echo Days celebration returns August 20th
The annual Echo Days Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, August 20th. The event begins at 11 a.m. at Echo Lions Park with a variety of activities for kids. The park will be home to bounce houses, a water wall obstacle course, a basketball shoot-out, knocker balls, jousting, a dunk tank, and barrel train rides.

Lora Hopp-Hansen Named General Counsel at North Star Mutual
North Star Mutual Insurance Company is pleased to announce that Lora Hopp-Hansen will join as general counsel and senior vice president of North Star, effective July 25, 2022. Hopp-Hansen, joins from Pipestone Holdings, LLC, where she most recently served as general counsel.

Alexandria Tech announces graduates
More than 600 graduates were honored during the 2021-2022 academic year at Alexandria Technical & Community College. The spring commencement ceremony was held May 11, 2022 at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. Local students graduating are:

IV Play band to headline Cottonwood Coming Home Days street dance
This year’s Cottonwood Coming Home Days will feature the band IV Play at the annual Street Dance held July 9th at LeRoys Bar & Grill. The Street Dance begins at 8 p.m.

100th Anniversary project features local cooperatives including Cottonwood Co-op
Jessica Stolen-Jacobson, a journalist and professional photographer, was invited by Scott Tedrick, Editor of the Renville County newspaper, to collaborate with him on creating a project that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Volstead-Capper Act. The Act is the driving force behind the project, with both Stolen-Jacobson and Tedrick eager to create the 100th Anniversary Cooperative celebration project; and, it took Tedrick and Stolen-Jacobson on quite the adventure.
Minnesota West Community & Technical College application deadline
Minnesota West Community & Technical College awarded students of $82,000 in scholarships last year. There are a wide variety of scholarships for new and returning students available through the Minnesota West Foundation and the Minnesota Workforce Development scholarship. Minnesota West Community and Technical College will award an additional 25 Workforce Development scholarships to students starting fall 2022. - Minnesota West Community & Technical College Law Enforcement Program will host an information day on Thursday, July 7, 2022 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Commons at the Worthington Campus. Interested students will visit with instructors, learn about the program, review course specifics and have an opportunity to register for classes while on campus.
