Chief Deputy DeBlieck retires after 37 years of service

Chief Deputy Wayne De- Blieck was the guest of honor at a retirement party held at The Rock Dining & Events Friday afternoon. DeBlieck retires after 37 years of service in police departments. He began his work in Granite Falls in 1992, after six years in Tracy at the Police Department, with a couple of part-time jobs before that. Over the years, some of the things he says were most memorable were the tornados and floods. “During the flood I lived on the river and had to fight the flood myself plus work. And with the tornado, I was worried about that,” he says.

What our schools mean to our communities

Schools function as their own community within a community, but they also serve to significantly improve the communities they serve in many ways. Schools not only provide education for the youth in the community, but also provide opportunities for adults through community education classes offered on the site - whether it be night classes, enrichment, or an open gym to get exercise in during the cold months.
