New SBA HUBZone designation expands contracting opportunities for small businesses in Minnesota
The U.S. Small Business Administration recently approved a Governor-designated request from the State of Minnesota to expand SBA’s HUBZone program to cover the entirety of Otter Tail County and certain Census tracts in the counties of Becker, Carlton, Chisago, Isanti, Mille Lacs, and Roseau. This designation enables small businesses in high-unemployment, low-income areas to get HUBZone certified and be eligible for special set-aside federal government contracts.
Minnesota Twins offer special edition hats with DNR ticket package
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Twins are once partnering to offer Minnesota DNR Days at select games in 2025. Anyone with a 2025 Minnesota fishing or hunting license can access a ticket package that includes a special edition Twins fishing cap with a ticket purchase.

Staff vs students volleyball game held
ECHO shop teacher and paraprofessional Pete Hodge served during the Staff versus Students volleyball game Thursday afternoon, May 8. The staff won. This challenge is enjoyed twice a year at ECHO Charter School in ECHO.

Chicks have hatched on the DNR FalconCam
Four newly hatched chicks are now visible on the Minnesota DNR’s popular FalconCam (mndnr.gov/falconcam). The Nongame Wildlife Program’s camera is in a nesting box in downtown St. Paul and will once again provide an intimate look at peregrine falcons raising their young.
