Echo Alliance missionary crew visits Honduras
From March 1-11, a mission team from Echo Alliance Church visited Honduras to provide labor and the Gospel to the inhabitants there. Echo Alliance Pastor Marty Reynhout was one of the those who made the trip to the World Gospel Mission (WGM) site in El Pinar, Honduras, in the western part of the country, and was blessed by the experience.

Annual Cottonwood Craft & Vendor Fair held
The 26th Annual Cottonwood’s Craft & Vendor Show was held on Saturday at the Cottonwood Community Center. The event featured 20 area vendors and crafters, as well as a Salad Lunch that was held as a fundraiser for the Lakeview Backpack Program.Photos by Jody Isaackson

Math Class tests averages of percentages advertised
Lakeview high school College Statistics students conducted a scientific testing on the marketing for Skittles new Zombie Skittles packs. The packages of Skittles claim in their marketing that 10% of the Skittles inside each package are “Zombie Skittles”, that have a bad taste. Students tested individual packages by tasting the Skittles, and tracking how many out of each package were the Zombie Skittles. Photos by Karen Berg
Lakeview School Board approves new playground equipment
The Lakeview School Board approved of several business deals to enhance the school’s performance in serving its students in the upcoming years at its March 21 board meeting. The Board approved a quote for new playground equipment with Miracle/Webber for $7,682.92.
Lakeview School preparing for spring testing, registrations
Lakeview Administration and staff are gearing up for spring testing rounds and class registrations for the 2022-23 school year as reported to the Lakeview School Board at its March 21 meeting. K-6 Principal Courtney Frie reported that scheduling for the 2022-23 school year has started and this includes some staff assignments.

Three students qualify for state in FCCLA testing
Brody Justesen, Miguel Facio, Heather Espinoza all qualified for state in FCCLA testing. Lakeview students participated in FCCLA midwinter conference. They were able to complete tests in Culinary and Everyday Equations tests and compete at state in the cites April 7 & 8th. These experiences increases our student’s employability skills. FCCLA program provides members with many academic, technical and social emotional skills and knowledge that are valuable experiences at this time for our students. Hanley Falls and Cottonwood families have opportunity for Easter Bunny to make visit
Last year, the Cottonwood Community Foundation came up with an idea to create an opportunity for families in Cottonwood and Hanley Falls to purchase already-assembled Easter eggs that would be hidden around their lawns for children to find on Easter morning. “It was kind of a last-minute thing that we threw together last year, and we sold around 1,000 eggs,” says Community Foundation member Tam French.

Spring ushers in many traditional activities that perk up the local communities and get people out and about. This week, Cottonwood leads off the parade of events with its Craft & Vendor Show on Saturday, March 26.
County board accepts budget for LEC roof
The Lyon County Board on Tuesday took action on a number of projects across the county to improve different areas at its regular meeting. After a presentation by Brian Murrell from The Garland Company and discussion by the board, commissioners voted to accept the budget presented by Murrell and move forward with The Garland Company on a roof replacement at the Law Enforcement Center.
