2021-22 campaign results announced by United Way of Southwest Minnesota

United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) reports a total of $499,000 was raised during the 2021-22 fundraising campaign. A small portion of the funds raised locally will be paid directly to local organizations as designated by the donors. All other funds raised will support programs working to improve the lives of people living in the 35 communities we call home. Because of funds raised in last year’s campaign, 43,000 local people’s lives are being impacted through internal programs, community partner programs and/or other initiatives.

ECHO Charter School sets prom date as May 6

ECHO Charter School Director/Principal Helen Blue Redner is calling it "Prom-ish" because it is a cross between a spring dance and not-quite-afull prom event. "The prom committee was given full access to the storage shed and came out with yards and yards of tulle," Blue Redner told the school board Thursday night. "We've also booked Josh Schueler to be the DJ."

Lakeview Board discusses new advisory council, approves personnel changes

At the Lakeview School Boar's Valentine's Day meeting, Superintendent Chris Fenske reported that the Board held a discussion on the American Indian Parent Advisory Council, which is now required for Lakeview because it has more than ten students who are American Indian. The Board later approved a resolution regarding its formation for the 2022-23 school years. "The goal would be for the council to meet around four times per school year," Fenske said. "There is no additional funding that comes to the district for the designation, but eh committee works as an advisory committee for the district curriculum committee and provides suggestions about educational programs and activities for American Indian students."
