Commissioners declare state of emergency for Lyon County
The Lyon County Board on July 16 passed a resolution declaring a state of emergency in Lyon County.The move was in response to excessive rains and high winds from June 16-22, specifically, a flooding event on June 21.Lyon County Emergency Manager Emily Coequyt informed the board Tuesday that the County has has exceeded the state threshold for funding by $20,000.“We won’t meet the Federal (threshold), but with the State we can get back 75% of what we spend,” Coequyt said.

Cottonwood celebrates Coming Home Days
At this year’s annual Cottonwood Coming Home Days celebration brought families together for such events as peddle pull contests, corn hole and volleyball tournaments, a class reunion, fireworks show, a school play, a fundraiser for the local fire and ambulance departments, street dance and bingo.

Alice in Wonderland Jr, the musical held at Lakeview School
Lakeview Community Education recently enchanted audiences with their production of “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” The musical, featuring a talented cast of students from grades 4 through 12, brought the whimsical world of Lewis Carroll’s beloved story to life.The cast was selected in April, and from the very beginning, the students demonstrated a remarkable dedication to their roles.
