My Daughter Friends have asked why I haven’t written about my four-yearold daughter. Some know me as a doting dad and conjectured that I was too deeply in love to make fun of her.
Letter to the Editor
I’m extremely excited to be sending a letter to the editor about something I really care about, and that is the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). My wife Shana and I moved to Marshall in 1994 and raised two great kids Sadie Zahrbock Schaeffer and Simon Zahrbock, and we are proud to call this area HOME. I believe that I have a good grasp and understand the needs of my neighbors and I want to continue to help where I can. I, like many of you, want to help make this a better place to live today and into the future, so please join me in supporting UWSWMN in any way you can. Your support can change lives of neighbors, friends and our communities. UWSWMN continues to support local programs and activities that focus on health, education, financial stability, hunger, and safety/well-being of its community members.

jstolen-jacobson@cherryroad.com As we near the best season of all (fall), I find myself wanting to spend more time outdoors and exploring before we lose the chance to winter. So when I had a day off over the weekend and realized that it was going to be my only day off until Christmas with all of the photography sessions booked, the season’s sports, council and school board meetings, etc, etc, I thought it would be the perfect time to take my youngest child on her first trip to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

Decades are like snowflakes. They’re white and pointy, and all a little different. Sometimes I think about the 20th century and the decades therein. Nobody knows exactly how many decades were in that century, but it almost seems like there is one every ten years or so.

Previously, I wrote about some of the changes to Part D coverage that will result from the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.Acouple more were highlighted in an email I received from the Senior LinkAge Line and I’d like to share them with you. These will be great for many Minnesotans! First, beginning in January of 2023, the cost of insulin will be reduced to $35 and deductibles do not apply.

I recently suggested to my youngest that for her Farmer’s Market booth, she should make popcorn balls. It seems she hasn’t even ever heard of popcorn balls, and somehow that seemed nearly impossible to me.

Back to School The phrase “back to school” means different things to different people. To some, Back To School is a 1986 comedy starring Rodney Dangerfield where he goes well, back to school.

In July I mentioned that I had a minor knee surgery planned for the beginning of August. Everyone I’d talked to who had a piece of torn cartilage removed said they were back on their feet and back to normal activity in a couple of weeks.
