From the Editor’s Desk
As I write my column this week, I’m surrounded by boxes of graduation decorations, photographs, graduation caps and gowns, and all other kinds of necessary items to host a party for my graduate. We didn’t hold a graduation party for my oldest, as he was off to basic training the summer of his junior year, and off to advanced training directly at the end of senior year.
Letter to the Editor
The recently concluded legislative session left a number of important issues unresolved, many of which are important to cities and our residents here in Southwestern Minnesota. Specifically, the agreed-upon final versions of the Tax bill and the Jobs and Energy bill are much-needed items that will offer opportunities and to our residents and our communities.

Whenever I have the opportunity to look through the newspaper’s archive books, I’m more than happy to spend hours leafing through the pages. While leafing through the Advocate Tribune archives I’ve come across classmates and photographs from my years at Yellow Medicine East. There’s even a photograph of me in the fifth grade at the school’s spelling bee.

We’re well into the spring sports season, and still dealing with cancellations, reschedules, and shortened games because of all the cold, rainy, windy weather. I don’t recall a spring sports season that’s been quite so interrupted in many years.

A staple of my time in journalism is apparently attending the Minnesota’s Machinery Museum annual meeting. In all of my history in newspapers around the area, the one event that I have attended each year that I was involved in newspapers has been this particular meeting.

Lakeview Board approves revising current budget, staffing changes
“During its April 18 meeting, the Lakeview School Board discussed and later approved the 2021-22 Revised School Year Budget with projected General Fund Revenues of $7,977,694 and Projected Expenses of $8,088,221, Supt. Chris Fenske said. This was required due to normal fluctuations in student count at this point in the school year, which af fects funding, according to administrative staff. The Board of Education made other approvals on the night, Fenske said.
