Temporary off-highway vehicle trail closures for deer season begin Nov. 5
Recreational use of ou-highway vehicles will be restricted on some state forest trails and access routes during the upcoming firearms deer hunting season, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Vehicles auected by the restrictions in - clude all-terrain vehicles, ou-highway motorcycles and registered ou-road vehicles, such as four-wheel drive trucks. At certain times of day (listed below), these restrictions do not apply to vehicles being used by a licensed deer hunter in conjunction with deer hunting.
DNR notes regarding deer hunting season
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Hunters: Register your deer Hunters are required to register every deer they harvest before processing, before antlers are removed and within 48 hours after taking the animal. Hunters can register deer online, via phone or in person.

Lakers football season ends
Last Friday, the Lakeview Varsity Football Team played the Section Championship against Minneota at SMSU taking a 6-8 loss. The game brings an end to a season that featured a number of memorable wins.

Lakers defeat Canby, Dawson-Boyd in playoff games
Last Tuesday, the Lakeview Varsity Football team took on Canby for a 50-12 victory in the opening game of the playous. The win advanced the team to Saturday's game against Dawson-Boyd. Scoring from Tuesday follows: Lakeview 6 24 20 0 Canby 6 6 0 0 On Saturday, the team traveled to Dawson, start- ing the game at 3 p.m. In the second quarter, Owen Louwagie made an 8-yard pass to Nathan Fenske, who scored the touchdown, bringing the score to a tied 8-8. With just a little over four minutes left in the second quarter, Greg Schafer scored a touchdown on a 47-yard pass from Louwagie to bring the score to 16-14. In the third quarter, Clayton Kosel scored a 36-- yard touchdown, with a two-point conversion bring- ing the score to 24-20. In the 4th quarter, Clayton Kosel scored two touchdowns, and the team took the victory with a final score of 38-32. The team now advances to play Minneota on Fri- day, November 4th at 2 p.m. at the SMSU Field. School will dismiss on Friday at noon for the section 5A championship game.
