JOYCE MARGARET DOOM

Joyce Margaret Doom, 68, of Marshall died unexpectedly at home on January 30, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce took place on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood at 11 a.m. A public visitation was held at the church prior to the funeral mass from 9 – 11 a.m. Burial took place Saturday, February 4 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following the service.

Following the burial a luncheon was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Joyce Margaret Doom was born on June 14, 1954, at Weiner Memorial Medical Center, Marshall, to Remi and Harriet Doom. She was baptized, received Holy Communion, and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood. She lived at home until age 34 when she moved into a REM home in Tyler in 1989, and in 2017, she moved to a REM home in Marshall. Our family cared for Joy as she grew up. She brought great “Joy” to all the people she met and reminded people the importance of finding happiness in life’s little blessings. Joy loved music and enjoyed bouncing along to the beat.

Christmas was an annual highlight in Joy’s life, she especially enjoyed crumpling and tossing the wrapping paper after the opening of gifts. Joyce is survived by her siblings Monica (Donald) Senden of Marshall, Bernie (Duane) Louwagie of Marshall, Jenny (Ralph) Dieken of Marshall, Steve (Brenda) Doom of Cottonwood, 16 nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and caregivers.
